Those weird little misfit quilt blocks that you are stuck with after a big project? They are like Syd's toys in Toy Story. They're not always that easy to love.

Now scraps? Those are easy. Sew them onto adding machine tape and they're delightful!

And "orphan" blocks are also easy. Make pillows - loveable, chubby pillows!

But the weird little misfit blocks are awkward, neither scrap nor pillow.

Perhaps they were an experiment that didn't go quite right.

Or a side-journey that took a wrong turn.

But each of these misfits has its own little personality.

So I sewed together the little misfit blocks to make this:

It wasn't easy. I had to do some snipping and patching to make it work. But it was as fun as a puzzle and I like the outcome.

A content creator (I can't remember who) said she makes these every six months with whatever has accumulated, and I like the idea of that. I like that this project is a reflection of where I've been recently, a kind of a map of my sewing travels.

And this project turned my weirdo little misfit blocks into a wall hanging I'll use in my bedroom. That's a win!
