Jane Austen Meets Quilting Fabric
I love Jane Austen and I am enamoured with quilting. So I was doubly delighted with a box of Jane Austen-themed quilting fabrics! Riley Blake fabrics with names that refer to Jane Austen novels A fabric manufacturer, Riley Blake, came up with a collection of fabrics based on a quilt that Jane and her sister made. Then they brilliantly named the patterns after characters from, in this case, the novel Emma. What a blast to go through them all and dream of ways I might use them!

How Sense and Sensibility is softened in adaptations
Sense and Sensibility is not my favorite Jane Austen novel. However, I do really enjoy the adaptations. Why is that?? What are the adaptors doing that Jane Austen didn't? The Glories of Pride & Prejudice Adaptations
I am a big Jane Austen fan. I am also a videographer/animator who loves the visual storytelling of movies. Hence, adaptations of Jane Austen novels are my candy, my sweet spot. Four Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice

And filmmakers have graciously provided us with a fair selection of adaptations. But none of them quite satisfy our idea of the perfect adaptation. Why is that? I examine four adaptations to try to identify the pits adaptors fall into while bringing Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy to life. And to try to understand why o

Jane Austen's Persuasion 1995 v. 2007 v. 2022
The 2022 adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Persuasion caused an uproar. "Fleabag meets Bridgerton meets Jane Austen!" Blasphemy! And it is a cheeky retelling - shocking, funny, and a little impolite. But to be fair, Anne Elliot is a difficult heroine to portray on film. Unlike Elizabeth Bennet or Emma Woodhouse who are continually talking and doing, Anne is quiet, introverted, and ignored. In this video, I indulge in a deep dive with three versions of Persuasion: the cheeky 2
