Holiday Card 2025
One of my favorite traditions is to create an animated holiday card for my friends, family and clients. This one is especially dear to me since it also celebrates my new favorite fabric designer, Tula Pink. Click on image to link to video on YouTube Happy holidays!

What do you actually do?
I don't think it's a rude question or an out-of-bounds question. But it's a hard one to answer succinctly. I imagined my work as a videographer would be mostly cameras and boom mics, interviews and equipment. And those things do show up regularly. But my days are a lot more varied and creative than just the traditional activities. So, to answer the question "what do you actually do?" I've made a video. Big surprise. A click will take you to the video on YouTube

Festive Holiday Fun 2024
Shorter days, storm warnings, soup. It's time for some festive holiday fun! My creative thoughts turn to favorite foods and family-focused activities: card games, mince pies, strings of lights. So, let's a make an animation! I wanted my cat Zsa Zsa to help but she can't seem to quit chasing the poultry. If I'd asked Kitty Clair to help, she would have been more cooperative but the truth is, she's harder to draw. So Zsa Zsa got to star. It seems unfair, doesn't it? Kitty Clair

When the Client Loves Dogs
I am warned before my first visit to the client: “There are dogs.” And there sure are. Dogs come out from everywhere to greet me - from...

84 seconds
Each month, I put together a review of my current work. This month, the total output is 84 seconds of video footage. I know a whole lot of learning happened under the surface of that work but still - 84 seconds? And... here are those seconds! 4 seconds: THE CARTWHEEL I brushed off my sketching skills and made this 15-frame animated cartwheel. There are many types of animation - 2D, 3D, stop-motion, claymation, rotoscope. And hand-drawn, like the Cartwheel. I did the drawings

Animate Good Times
Using animation and secondary brand colors to reveal a logo makes it exciting and eye catching. During animation bootcamp, I got this idea for a logo reveal - but then I had to defer creating it until I'd finished the class and recovered. Bootcamp is "bootcamp" for a reason! This logo reveal is not only colorful and interesting, it also helps tell a story about what I do and how I do it. I'm a videographer, which my logo already tells us - but I'm also an animator, a creative

Animation Bootcamp
How am I fulfilling my animation dreams? By enrolling in School of Motion's Animation Bootcamp. I am having a blast learning 2D Animation along side 200 others from around the world! This video is a dispatch from week three of twelve. Facts about this session of animation bootcamp: A large percentage of students don't finish the program. (No judgment whatsoever.) We get two assignments per week, each with a soft deadline of 1-2 days. After Effects is the most commonly used an

Merry Holidays and Happy 2023!
I've taken another dip into the rough waters of animation to celebrate 2022, the year I quit work and started Becky Bruhn Videography. You may remember my previous animation post, when I wrestled with an eyelid? Dark days, my friend. But, I've been practicing, my confidence has swelled, and so I made you this holiday card. The animation does get a little out of hand. Those digital images are as slippery as an eel! And don't get me started on the sound issues I couldn't fully

Knocking on Animation's Door
Ever since I stuck my baby toe in stop motion animation earlier this year, I've been itching to try digital animation. It can't be that hard, can it? I mean, #1, everything is automated now and #2, look at Beavis and Butthead back in the day. Come on! I can do that! As usual, my optimism sends me on a path that I'm not fully conditioned for - into a pool that's significantly over my head. From script idea to Zoom recording, from Illustrator to Apple Motion, Knocking on Anima
